Workers’ Compensation Benefits Available to Injured Workers in Los Angeles
California workers’ compensation covers a range of benefits for workers injured on the job. Those benefits may include medical treatment, temporary disability payments to replace a portion of lost wages during recovery, permanent disability payments based on an assigned disability rating, supplemental job displacement benefits if a worker can’t return to their prior role, and death benefits for surviving family members in fatal cases.
Public safety employees in California carry additional protections that standard workers don’t. When a presumptive injury arises during a career or within the first few years after retirement, it’s treated as work-related by default. Covered conditions vary by statute but commonly include cancer, hernia, hepatitis, pneumonia, and tuberculosis.
